St Cronan’s Church

CRUSHEEN

Introduction

Welcome to St Cronan’s Church, Crusheen.

St. Cronan’s church built in 1837 is a cruciform barn church typical of the pre famine period. The Stations of the Cross were donated by Mrs. Franks of Ballinruan in 1908 and the marble baptismal font was donated by Mrs. Catherine Rodgers. In 1915 major reconstruction was undertaken through the generosity of the local community and especially Mrs. Spelman, Gort. One feature that captures the attention from this time is the elaborate reredos and altar by Early of Dublin. During work carried out in 1989 the baptismal font of 1736 was installed.
